Preparing Your Home

My Bushfire Plan

Your plan is also available in an app which you can share to all your family members. Also on this site there are multiple downloads on how to protect yourself and your property- please take some time to read through them.

☎️ If there is a fire please call 000

Information is available through the Emergency WA website

A great resource is Bushfire iOS - an app with detailed information with wind direction and speed.

If there is an emergency, the Evacuation centre will be the Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre (ALAC) - although the centre is prepared, it is a nicer option to stay with friends or family. If this happens please remember to call ALAC and register where you are staying.

The Lower Kalgan Hall Fire Resilient Garden

In February 2023, Laura Bird partnered with The Forever Project to create a new and fire resilient garden around the Lower Kalgan Hall. The Forever Project ran the workshop and helped coordinate the planting and design of the new garden. A very BIG thank you to Nutrien Ag Solutions through the FRRR grant and The City of Albany along with Albany All Soils and all the volunteers who made this event possible.

We hope this has inspired many people to look at their garden in a new way and see it as a tool to protect their house and property.

See our photos below.
